Bites Around The City
The Smith
Dinner Plans? The Smith Never Misses
The Smith in Midtown has become my go-to spot with my college friends—it's got that perfect combo of great vibes, amazing service, and consistently delicious food. There's always a lively crowd, and it never disappoints. I had the basil pesto radiatori this time (I'm a total pasta lover), and it was everything I could want—fresh, flavorful, and loaded with parmesan. Definitely a must for anyone looking for a solid dinner out in the city.

Bubby’s
Breakfast Bliss at Bubby's: Pancakes, Mimosas, and Pure Joy
If you're ever in the mood for a breakfast that feels like a celebration, Bubby's is the place to go. I recently stopped by for a morning treat and left dreaming about pancakes and mimosas in the best possible way.
I ordered the Pancake Flight, which came with three of their famous James Beard pancakes, each topped with something unique and delicious: Caramelized banana & toasted walnuts, Blueberry compote, and Nutella mixed berry compote, all finished with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream.
Let me tell you—these pancakes are not your average flapjacks. They’re fluffy, rich, and buttery with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. My favorite by far was the caramelized banana one. The warm, melty banana paired with crunchy walnuts hit that perfect sweet-savory balance. Coming in second was the Nutella and berry combo—because who can say no to Nutella? The blueberry compote was the classic comfort pick, slightly tart and just the right amount of sweet.
To sip alongside all that deliciousness, I tried the Mimosa Flight, which included four playful flavors: Pomegranate, Lavender, Grapefruit lemonade and Passionfruit
Each one brought something different to the table—refreshing, floral, or tangy—and it was a fun twist on the usual brunch bubbly. The lavender was a standout for how unique it tasted—soft, aromatic, and just fancy enough to feel like a special treat.
Bubby’s nails both flavor and fun. Whether you’re a pancake purist or a brunch adventurer, this place deserves a spot on your list. Next time, I might just go back for seconds... or thirds.

Sean’s Bar and Kitchen
Stuffed and Smiling at Sean’s Bar & Kitchen
If you're looking for an Irish spot and indulgent eats, Sean's Bar and Kitchen is a must-visit. I went in hungry and left absolutely stuffed after ordering the “Everything but the Kitchen Sink” platter — and let me tell you, it lived up to its name! Wings, tenders, mozzarella sticks, waffle fries, onion rings, three kinds of dip... and yes, it actually came in a mini kitchen sink! Total crowd-pleaser and perfect for sharing (or not — no judgment here).
The only downside was the wait — the line was pretty long, and it took a while to get seated. But honestly, once the food hit the table, it was worth it.
Great food, great fun, and a touch of Irish charm. Just bring your appetite!

Daily Provisions
Palm Trees & Oat Lattes
I finally checked out Daily Provisions for the first time, and I’m so glad I did.
It’s tucked inside Brookfield Place, which has more of a modern cafeteria vibe — but in the best way. Think sleek, open space, people buzzing around on lunch breaks, and (my favorite part) cozy seating right next to tall indoor palm trees. Yes, palm trees. It’s a little unexpected and kind of magical.
I ordered a hot oat latte, and it was so good. Creamy, comforting, and perfectly balanced. One of those lattes that makes you pause mid-sip and just smile. The staff was also super sweet — chill, friendly, and made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming.
I didn’t grab anything to eat this time, but the food looked amazing. I spotted these gooey chocolate chip cookies behind the counter that I’m already dreaming about — definitely on the list for next visit.
Daily Provisions is now officially on my coffee rotation. Can’t wait to go back.

Carrot Cake Heaven – A Neighbor’s Recipe Worth Sharing
I’ve always loved carrot cake—maybe more than most people. I thought I was a bit of an oddball until my neighbor raved about a recipe from Food & Wine and insisted I try it.
I’m so glad I did.
I baked it over the weekend and it was everything I love about carrot cake and more. I swapped in walnuts for the pecans (personal preference), and they worked perfectly.
The cake turned out super moist and full of flavor, with just the right amount of spice. And the cream cheese filling? To die for! Rich, smooth, and the perfect match for the cake’s warmth. It didn’t last long—everyone wanted seconds.
Whether you're a carrot cake lover or just curious, this recipe is a must-try, especially for Easter!
